Western North Carolina is entering spring facing drier-than-normal conditions, raising concerns about a heightened risk of wildfires. Rainfall in the region, as measured at the Asheville Regional Airport, has been below average this month, according to WLOS.
The Asheville Regional Airport has recorded just 1.67 inches of rain so far in March, which is 1.25 inches below the monthly average, WLOS reports. This deficit isn't limited to March.
