Asheville's landmark reparations endeavor, which drew national attention after a unanimous City Council vote in 2020, has seemingly stalled as candidates running for office are virtually silent on the issue, according to Blue Ridge Public Radio (BPR). Despite the initial commitment to establish reparations for Black citizens, recent forums and public appearances have seen candidates focusing on other issues, such as affordable housing, reliable transit, and recovery from Hurricane Helene.
